Q: How many pounds can my Ford Ranger haul?
It is a Ford Ranger XLT Supercab 2WD 3.0 Liter V6 engine. It has a ball socket located in the bumper that is rated at 2000 lbs, and a second hitch bolted/welded to the frame rated at 3500 lbs. If any more information is needed please feel free to leave a message in the answers and I will post more info.
Neglected to mention it is a 2000 Ford Ranger.
A: That sounds about right, 3500 lbs on the second hitch and 2000 on the bumper hitch. I drive a 2005 Ford Sport Trac that is able to haul around 5500 lbs on the hitch connected to the frame, I dont use the one that is connected to the bumper because I think it is silly how they have a hitch on the bumpers. You’re equipped with a 3.0 V6 which has enough power to haul a small trailer with a load with ease. I wouldn’t try and haul anything that you have a doubt about. Like pulling a boat or something.
Q: Question about rebuilding an 89 Ford Ranger?
I am rebuilding a 1989 Ford Ranger. It has a 2.9 V6 in it. I have power running to everything in the truck. I just can’t get power past the ignition coil. It will run into the ignition coil, but it will not pass though to the cap. I just bought a brand new ignition coil and it still isn’t working. Does the coil mount itself have to be grounded to the truck? I just don’t know what to do.
If I grounded the coil, would that cause it not to let power pass through the nipple on the coil?
A: I’m pretty sure the coil has to be grounded to the truck
Q: Where do I find instructions on how to install a remote start system for a 94 Ford Ranger Truck?
I want to install a remote start system for my 94 Ford Ranger, and I’m looking for detailed instructions on how to do that. The company where I purchased my equipment is called Vehicle Power Accessories. I checked their website, but they don’t have instructions. Where could I find instructions?
A: I’m suprised the instructions didn’t come with the kit. I would send it back and get one off of ebay. I got my for 48.00 with shipping and detailed instructions. It took me 1.5 hours to get it installed. Thats with 2 sandwiches, 4 beers and with 3 yes dear conversations.

Q: How do you change Brake Pads on a 2002 Ford Ranger?
I have a 2002 Ford Ranger and I need to change the brake pads. Can someone direct me to a website or give me instructions on how to change the brake pads?
Is it extremely difficult? Should I just take it in? How much does it cost to take the car in to change the brake pads?
A: Really quite simple
1. measure the rotor diameter the parts shop may need that.
2. Get pads and rotors don’t worry about the super dooper pads that cost twice as much. get the cheaper ones with a life time warranty
3 YOU MUST replace the rotors I recommend that to all my customers. yes you can turn them but I find on trucks that they will warp easily and I only give an installation warranty I don’t warrant against warped rotors on any truck/van
There are two TORX head bolt I am told are 40mm get a set of torx sockets.
4..with a large screwdriver or the caliper retract tool, I usually use a screwdriver, go between the pad and rotor of the inboard pad and pry the pad apart to the full extent it will go this is required before pulling the 2 bolts that take off the caliper, replace the rotor it pops right off and the pads watch those keepers as they prevent squeaking, If you get a tube of blue anti-squeal put it on the back of the pad not the face.
reassemble as you removed and do the other one. when you first start the truck press the brakes a couple of times to put pressure on the new pads and there you have it… We do this task in about an hour so plan on a first time 3 hours. It is quite simple..
Q: I have a Ford ranger and pump unleaded gas is it okay if I pump other grades of gas?
I have a Ford ranger and pump unleaded gas is it okay if I pump other grades of gas?
A: What do you mean by “other grades?” Did you mean to say you normally put super-unleaded in the car, and you want to know if you can get by with regular? If that’s what you’re asking, the answer might depend on what year your Ranger is. The newer the car is, the more likely it will be that, even if the owner’s manual calls for super unleaded, you can put regular in the tank, and the engine management computer will have no problem adjusting for the change in octane and the car will run just fine, though it might make a little less horsepower.
If your Ranger’s older, and if it requires super unleaded, there’s a possibility that putting regular in it would cause the engine to knock. If that happens, just go back to using high-octane super unleaded.
Really though, I’ve never heard of a Ranger requiring super unleaded. Perhaps I’m misunderstanding the question?
If you’re telling us you normally put regular in it, and you’re wondering if it’s OK to use super, that answer is that it certainly won’t hurt anything, but it would be a waste of money to put super in a car that doesn’t need it; you won’t get any kind of increase in performance or fuel economy.
Q: How do you replace a 98 ford ranger’s stock headlights?
I recently bought new clear headlights, taillights, and cornerlights for my 98 ford ranger stepside. I replaced the taillights and corner lights easily, but I’m unsure of how to take out the stock headlights and replace them. Do I need a special tool to take off the clamps?

Q: Ford Ranger having problems with hot floor on passenger side?
I’ve got an 02 Ford Ranger with about 60k miles on it. I noticed that if I drive more than say 30miles the floor on the passenger side gets very hot. I took it in to the shop thinking it was a catalytic converter problem, but they checked it out and said they couldn’t find any issues at all. What is going on here? Could something else be the problem, or is the shop i’m going to full of incompetents?
A: Could be the other guy is right you’ve a missing heat shield or the exhaust isn’t in the right place and too close to the floor but you’re right it sounds like a converter issue some way or another.Be sure to get a few opinions on this issue bec it’s not good for the floor to get so hot like that at all.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way you might call the dealership and enquire where the heat shields are exactly and check it out at some exhaust shop that offers free exhaust checks.
Q: how to change from limited slip to positraction on a 2000 ford ranger?
I have a ford ranger and i would like to change the differential from limited slip to posi traction. Im not sure on what the actual term is i read locker axle. But on my ranger 1 wheel rotates and i would like to change it to both tires to rotate. Please tell me how. If this is a at the house kind of thing or do i have to go somewhere special. and part suggestion please if you could.
A: Limited slip is positraction. You might be referring to a locker. There are several kinds. A mechanical locker will be cheapest but some are not good on the street. There are also selectable lockers, these are lockers that the driver engages when needed, some use air pressure to activate, some are electrically operated. They are more expensive but they function like an open diff when not activated, making them ideal for street use.
Q: How can I get my 04 Ford Ranger to run smoothly?
I have an 04 Ford Ranger XLT. I cannot get it to rev past 3000 rpm. When I try to rev it, it just coughs an sputters. I have replaced the plugs, wires and cap as well as the fuel filter to no avail. Last week I had the fuel injectors serviced and still nothing. I am not sure of the exact mileage I am getting but it seems low for a small 6 cylinder. I am unemployed with very few dollars to spend, so a costly process of elimination is not an option. Any suggestions?
A: hey i have a similar problem with a subaru impreza, it gets stuck at a certain rpm and doesnt like to go over it. my problem turned out to be the crank angle sensor. the entire ignition system relies on knowing where the crank is through this sensor, so obviously when it goes bad…. hope that helps! o yea that sensor cost me 25 at napa
Q: What way does a thermostat go in on a 93 ford ranger?

It is a 93 Ford Ranger 2.3L 4cyl How does it go into the housing/engine? I want to make sure it is correct before putting it all back together because it is a pain in the ass to get to.
A: The side with the spring goes towards the engine.
