Q: What is the best year for the Volkswagen Beetle or Bus?
I am looking for a car right now, and am extremely interested in the Volkswagen Beetle or Van.. I love both(: I was told that the ‘71 Bus, and ‘67 Beetle. Q: Can I take my Volkswagen Beetle Convertible through a car wash?
I have a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible (soft black top) and I was wondering if I would be able to take it through the car wash at my local gas station/home depot has a car wash too… Of course the top would be up, I just didn’t know if the top would be able to make it through the car wash.. I mean obviously it does fine in rain! Haha thank you in advance! :) 10 points to the best answer!

they have dual front air bags
and also have dual side airbags

i know the earlier new ones had tons of electrical problems
i dont know about the newer ones though

only thing i strongly dislike about them is the window is really far away from you, and the dashboard is suppper long, cause half of the engine is inside the car, not under the hood
it feels weird at first, but you get used to it

A: Its not like any other ATF, use the VW ATF about 15buck a litre and by the way, you yourself probably cant check it or add it. If you want to service it which you may not need to unless you have more than 100k miles, then go to the dealer or independent vw shop to do. good luck

A: Get used OEM springs from a Beetle (they all come with Sport suspensions)…. from:

Then you buy new replacement shocks, struts & associated replacement hardware:
- Strut Mount/Bearing
- Rear shock mount
- All the various stretch bolts & nylok nuts

- you may need to buy additional parts, bump stops, covers, etc.

A: As far as I know, all New Beetles have them. (as opposed to Beetles which were made back in the 70s). Mine is a 2003 and it has them.

A: Get a manual. This is an old car and the system is very simple compared to today’s vehicles. You can probably even buy a new one with late-day technology for cheaper than trying to do it yourself.

Q: is it possible to get someone to transform a regular volkswagen beetle into a conertabl beetle??
is it possible to get a custom body shop to change a regular new volkswagen beetle to a conertable beetle? or would i just have to a buy a convertable beetle lol

A: On the New Beetle it’s much more expensive than converting an Old Beetle. Expensive, like the other poster said.
The real convertible, the chassis has been reinforced, as it loses stiffness when the roof’s removed. In a custom-made one, you’d still have to deal with that problem.
Best just trade it in for a convertible one.

Q: When should I replace/repair brakes on a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle?
I have a 2003 Volkswagen beetle with 69k + miles. I do not hear any noises and so far have not had any issues, but I am getting concerned, should I take the car in to have brake pads replaced? Thanks for your help.

A: If you are taking your VW to a good repair facility for your oil changes they should be monitoring your brake wear for you. If you are going to a quicker lube oil filter place then they do not inspect your brakes for you. You do not state if you are driving a stick or an automatic. A stick can have brakes that last to 90k auto your lucky to get 60k. But best would be to go to a shop and have the brakes inspected.

Q: How to move the seat of a Volkswagen Beetle forward ?
Hi I am having problems moving the driver’s seat toward the wheel. My leg is not long enough to reach the pedal. Any help would be appreciated.

By the way these two latches don’t work, but there is another one at the front of the seat. Should I use that one.

A: if you look under the seat the latch to move it forward is on he front its connected to a cable. see if that cable is broke

A: Be prepared to work on it frequently.
Hope you dont have a front end collision as there is no engine in front of you to protect you.
